The Bonded Warehouse on Newcastle Quayside
was severely damaged by a number of fires over a decade before work finally
commenced on its conversion into Hanover Mill.
The Structural design and method of construction
had to be revisited several times during the period Napper Architects have been
involved with the project, due to collapse and subsequent necessary demolition. The remaining sections of the listed
warehouse have been converted to provide 48 apartments, with a contemporary styled
extension of the same scale providing a further 86 units. Off site parking has
been provided in a second phase of development on Forth Banks taking the total development

Stella South, Gateshead
|
|
The master planning of this 16 hectare area, on the south side of the river Tyne, was the first stage in the regeneration of the brownfield site of the former Stella South Power Station. This new 500 home housing development breathes new life back into an otherwise neglected and historically important area.
The scheme whilst being responsive to existing site constraints, maximises development potential taking on board the latest best practice guidance documentation and 'By Design' principles.
